The Alphonse Bertillon and the Identification of Persons, 1880-1914 project aims to provide the general public as well as the academic community with new insights into Alphonse Bertillon and the history of judicial identification at the turn of the century. The core idea is to spread hitherto little-known knowledge on his background and career by making significant portions of his works available online. The project, which received wide support both in France and abroad from the research community (universities, research centers, journals, and research networks), is also meant to inform various issues that were at stake in judicial identity and forensic science at the time. |
